9th December 2010

In today's session we were to spend all day on our folders like giving it the finishing touches and doing the final evaluation. For me I had loads of work to do in my folder like printing out my blog, printing out our presentations showing feedback on our presentations etc.

I had done most of these but because i had not had my folder for a couple of weeks i didn't have some of this but i had bought most of this so basically all i had to do was sort it all out and make my folder look presentable.

We did this for most of the day but for about 10 minutes of the end of the day we talked about how we are going to be at Coleridge and what work we need to do at home and stuff like that.

2nd December 2010

Today's session was our presentation assessment part of the course. We were all to finish our presentations and Present in front of the class and in front of Claire.

My group had carried on with finishing the presentation because since we finished our work last week early we got to start it last week. While Ben and Rowan finished doing the last couple of slides of the presentation, it was my job to do the script, well basically an outline of what we wanted to say.

After lunch we were all asked to do a quick practice presentation to the class but because we always go in the same order of groups our group had to go first which put more pressure on us and especially me because i was doing most of the talking. After we did the presentation we were given quick feedback from Mr Hind, he said that our presentation was good but we still needed to work on our presentation skills for example; talking louder and looking at the audience etc.

After about 2 o'clock when ever one had done a practice presentation Claire came in and it was time to do the real presentation. After we did the presentation, first, we got our feedback from Claire and continued on with the other groups. The feedback we got was mostly positive but she said that we need to show what the cafe sells in the leaflet but other than that she said it was bold and that the design stood out.

In today's session we were doing our final design, after we did the questionnaire we tryed to make our design better.

Because one of the draft designs had lots of writing according to the people we asked and they all preferred the 2nd design we decided to use that one but put a bit more information on it so it looks a bit more professional as well but still nice and colourful.

Because our group finished at lunch we started doing our presentation, we all decided that because i am the most confident in our group i would do most of the talking but they still do a slide each.

18th November 2010

This session we were back in our groups or we had a choice to do folder work instead because we had our usual 1 on 1 chats with Mr Hind and he said that  needed o do a bit me folder work, so thats what i did most of the day.

After lunch we we did a practial. The practical was to go to the cafe and take pictures, the chef\chefs had prepared different food for us to take pictures of, there were; Cappicinos, Chocolate Cake, Chicken Ceaser (wrong spelling) Tortilla Wrap and A Traditional English Breakfast. When we got back we uploaded our pictures and then we continued with doing our leaflets on the computers. The food looked nice and it made me hungry, so  made feel better about the cafe because now i know that the food at the cafe is nice and looks presentable.

FIRST DAY!!

Well today was our first, and well it was different then what i thought it was going to be (in a good way), i thought that there would rarely be any practical activities, but today we had an hour of practicals, we were first put into groups, then we had to go and pick a location where the first person would do their clip.the clip was about why we chose to do CRAM.

11th Novermber 2010

Today the class was basically in groups all day, in the groups we were starting to do questionnaires about 2 leaflets. I was doing the questionnaire, the questionnaire was about leaflets, and Rowan and Ben were doing the 2 leaflets, the reason we were doing 2 is because the task was to do 2 leaflets and make them different to each other and then we would go into town and ask a bunch of random people about the 2 leaflets. After lunch me and ben went into town. It was quite wierd because it was hard to try and decidewhat sort of people to ask, in the end we ended up asking A guy named steve, A middle-aged couple, and 2 young women.

4th November 2010

Today the class, were basically doing a catch-up to start the lesson off, this included taking a look at out folders, ticking off what things we have in our folders. For instance, our research reports, our briefs, our work on food photography and any other notes and work we have.


 For the second and third period we continued to sort out stuff in our folders if we hadn't done so yet, we also continued group work such as doing designs for leaflets, my group first did one on the computer but then we found out you had to do it on paper so we stopped.


 After lunch my group decided that we wanted t take pictures of the actual cafe so me and rowan went and we took about 10 pictures of the restaurant , it was quite busy but it was quite hard to see the restaurant until you we like in front of it.  When we got back Ben had already finished the leaflet on the paper and had started doing another one. 10 minutes later Mr Hind wanted a word to us about how our group was doing and he said that the second design was better than the first one, so when he finished talking to us we all started doing different designs an then bout 30 minutes later we all showed each other our designs.

21st October 2010

Today we were finishing our briefs and then we were talking about how we are going to do a sales pitch to the owner of the Orange Tree Cafe, the place we went to last week, and then after break we were put into the groups that we are going to do the sales pitch in. My group discussed different techniques on how we are going to present our work to the owner, in the end we decided to talk in  group of what things they could change and then Ben and rowan did different ideas on menus and i did a note on what we wanted to change and all the good things that we don't want to change. The group also got to take turns taking pictures of the hospitality groups food, whilst everyone else was either finishing their group work or researching food photography. When it was my groups turn we didn't know that you could move the food around so it wasn't as good as everyone Else's photos, but overall the photos were quite good.

14th October 2010

This week we were finishing our research reports on advertising campaigns, i chose to do the Cadbury Sports vs Stripes advert because it is one of my most favourite adverts, i like it because it is fun and interactive. It is a good advert because it is not actually trying to sell you anything it is just sort of a random advert but because it is sponsoring the 2012 Olympic Games it is quite an important advert. The other advert i chose was the Go Compare advert, to m this is one of the worsts advert ever! i hate it because it is annoying and is probable not helping the company in any way. We also took a little trip to a new cafe that opened on town and we went to take notes on the cafe like the properties of it and took notes of all the unique selling points and what the cafe needs improvment on.

First leson of CRAM

This a bit late because for some reason it wont show my first one and my other ones. On our first lesson we were put in groups of 3, we had to film each other and give a couple of reasons why we chose to do CRAM. We did it in different locations on the campus, but our film came up really bright because we didn't do the manual white balance properly. I wish we did it properly because it would have actually been good.

Homework

This session the group were asked to take still pictures of an object of a range of different items, me and my partner Elliot chose a shell and well i thought it was going to be hard but it was quite good and we took quite a lot of good pictures with the shell. We each took about the same amount of pictures as each other, overall we took about 10 pictures. After we took the pictures we went back to the room, we uploaded the pictures and then we edited them using Adobe Photoshop it was quite good, we decided to delete some photos that were out of focus but that was only a couple so were were left with like 7 photos which were quite good after we edited most of them. Afterwards we got to go in the dark room and we had to learn how to get the perfect black and white picture by taking test strips with different amounts of white light on them. It was good especially since i haven't done that since year 7 so i didn't remember much.
